Since my last post Ava has been admitted and discharged 3 more times.  It's been a rough month for illness for her.  She's been out since Thursday and is on antibiotics. Immunology was consulted and they think her immune issues are secondary to Mitochondrial disease.  All the specialists are quick to blame all her problems on Mito.  It's annoying.  She has an appt with Dr Kendall in Atlanta in July.  I am actually excited for this because we might get some answers.  Just talking to Dr Kendall's husband made me feel so much better.  Ava's special needs pediatrician has known Dr Kendall for many years and has worked with her.  They have a good working relationship, which is great!

Summer has started here in full force.  Our pool is busy as ever.  I am hoping for an easy, hospital free June.  We are just all exhausted and need a break.

I've been following Ava's story for a long time and our girls had some issues in common back in the day. I'm writing because my youngest (also adopted - just turned two) has some significant health issues that his neuro suspects are mito. They want to send us up for a muscle biopsy in the next few months to confirm. To complicate matters, he is on the autistic spectrum and essentially non-verbal at this point. These are challenging times for sure, but wanted to let you know that I'm going to go back and reread Ava's story. Can I msg you if I have questions? This is overwhelming!

Thanks for stopping by to comment about Dr. C. It was great meeting you while we were in Cinci. I just wish we'd had a chance to chat longer. I'm sorry to hear Ava's been in the hospital. I hope she's able to stay away and you get to enjoy your summer.
