Ava did great and is now home. Her adnoids were huge and obstructing her airway so hopefully this will belp her apnea when she sleeps. Her tonsils are at a 2-3 station (of 4), so we are waiting to have them removed. She may need a supraglottoplasty as well. I don't love that idea and will mention that at her follow-up in a month. She is not in any pain from surgery. :)
We're supposed to meet with her physical therapist and DME soon to go over car seat options. Her PT doesn't feel she has enough muscle tone for a normal booster. She's recommending an adaptive carseat. Since they cost over $1000.00 we are submitting it to insurance.
Home nursing is being worked out. I really don't know how I feel about this. I have mixed feelings on this. I have heard horror stories about private nurses. I don't love the idea of someone else caring for my daughter. But, I am the only person who does any of her home care and some days I'm exhauted and have no time for my other children. I'm on the fence about it. We are asking for her to get 4-6 hrs a day and see how it goes. I think I'm more nervous about interviewing nurses that they would be.
Dakota is having an endoscopy on Jan 5th. It will be outpatient - Imagine that! They want to test her for Celiac disease. Her stomach hurts every time she eats. She's otherwise healthy and rarely gets sick. She never complains about pain until the last year with her belly pain. We've watched and waited for months and GI thinks it's time to do a scope.
All the kids are excited about Christmas and this month is flying by. I'm trying to enjoy the season as much as possible.

Good luck...I hope you find a nurse that you really like.
Beth had her tonsils and adenoids out at three years old and it make a huge difference in her sleep. She was waking up 10 times a time due to apnea, but after surgery she starting sleeping through. Once she started sleeping she started finally talking and no longer needer her EI services after a few months. It worked out really well for her.
We have had nursing for 21years and we have had some crazy nurses that you just quickly fire or dont hire and then we have had WONDERFUL nurses! Our one nurse has been with us for 21 years and the other nurse is younger and because she has little ones of her own, she adores our little ones. We just end up laughing about the crazy ones over the years. I know its a scary thought at first, but its a huge relief. You will know who is right for your baby, and when your interviewing dont be afraid to ask ?s, Just like we dont like smoking in our house because its not safe for our child and he has oxygen, So we do ask if they smoke. Hope you find a nurse you love!
I think you will find that home nursing will be a tremendous help. Like Leah, we have had some horrible nurses in our home, but as long as you are in control of the care and aware of what is going on, you can quickly get rid of them in favor of the wonderful one that will change your life and Ava's. I had a hard time giving up the reins a little, but I eventually realized that I could care more for Mikan when I did so and enlisted the help of people who weren't so tired all the time. I hope you can quickly find a good match for you guys so that this isn't another stressor in your life. Merry Christmas to all you guys!
